Happy New Year, NSCA members! I’m so excited to formally introduce myself, Rachel Rayman, as your new Industry Outreach and Events Manager.
As part of my role here at NSCA, I will be taking over government affairs duties. This means that I’ll be diligently blogging, updating our Engage tool, watching relevant legislation as it unfolds, and sending you alerts when necessary. Please watch for my emails and calls to action!
If there is an issue you are concerned about, please don’t hesitate to contact me any time at rrayman@nsca.org or 319-861-8638.
In the coming year, I hope to build a strong grassroots effort across the country to help support or defeat any legislation we feel is important to our members and the industry itself. But to do this, I need your help.
If you’re interested in being a member of this grassroots group in your state, please send me your contact information. Being involved requires reaching out to colleagues, state representatives, and at times even testifying at a hearing. It is exciting to be on the ground helping our industry, and I hope you jump at this chance.
If you’re attending BLC in Tampa, FL, this February, please seek me out. 2015 should prove to be an exciting year for us!
Here are a few things we want to share with you to kick off 2015:
*HR 5771 – Tax Increase Prevention Act – was approved, and the four dozen “tax extenders” have been approved for another year. Please click here for detailed information.
*There have been some extensions to the 2014 David-Bacon surveys:
- Florida extended to May 29, 2015
- Plymouth & Worcester County Massachusetts extended to May 29, 2015
- Maine extended to April 30, 2015
As always, you can find up-to-date Davis-Bacon information here.
Happy 2015! –Rachel Rayman, Industry Outreach and Events Manager
