Bogen Communications believes that distributors and integrators are a vital link in the low-voltage technology channel. For that reason, the company also realizes the importance of serving as a resource and advisor for integrators when possible, helping them find ways around roadblocks and challenges.
As a provider of commercial amplifiers, speakers, and intercom systems for music, paging, and educational applications for more than 85 years, Bogen Communications is established in the industry – but also realizes that the needs of integrators have changed drastically during that time.
In his new role as marketing manager at Bogen Communications, Steve Doran says that NSCA has helped him gain a better understanding of the needs and concerns of today’s low-voltage installers. By better understanding these pain points, it’s easier to find ways to help customers boost sales and profits.
“I find NSCA’s communications and member resources to be invaluable to manufacturers and integrators,” says Doran. “For example, NSCA often hosts webinars on topics of interest to both groups. I share information about them in internal company communications so our employees can share them with their customers. Even just browsing NSCA’s website helps us keep up to date on what integrators are dealing with.”

In June 2019, for example, NSCA Business Accelerator Insperity hosted a free webinar: A Key Differentiator in Attracting & Retaining Talent. It provided valuable information to manufacturers and integrators about using consistent, fair-minded HR practices to add value to company culture and make a remarkable difference in employee experiences.
Because Doran knows that attracting and retaining talent is something almost every integrator struggles with, he shared the webinar information company-wide to make sure customers would hear about it, too.
In addition to using NSCA’s content to strengthen bonds between Bogen Communications and its integrator customers, Doran says he also uses member resources to make business changes based on what’s happening in the industry.
Most recently, he read the Electronic Systems Outlook Summer 2019 report, released in July 2019 with updated information about commercial building and technology growth.
“Based on the information I uncovered in that report, we bulked up our vertical marketing materials for the specific markets that NSCA predicted would see higher-than-average growth in 2019 and beyond. It helps us be better prepared for what’s coming.”
And when he isn’t sure where to look to find the answers he needs, Bogen knows that a simple call to NSCA will point him in the right direction. “I find NSCA to be invaluable in guiding the direction of our business.”
