Improve the Health of Your Business at NSCA's Fall Business Conference

The 9th Annual NSCA Fall Business Conference Prescribes Awareness

Cedar Rapids, IA, July 28, 2006-- As the number of registered attendees climbs ever closer to sold-out status, NSCA has released a preview of its agenda for the 9th Annual Fall Business Conference, set to take place October 26-28 in Myrtle Beach, SC at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort at Grand Dunes. This year the conference theme is "Improving the Health of Your Business," and the two and a half days of learning and networking opportunities will make the prognosis good for the enterprises of those who attend.

This year NSCA has added even more educational merit to the Fall Business Conference, as each course has been assigned a number of Learning Units which can be accumulated toward a Certificate of Completion from the NSCA University. "The Fall Business Conference has always been an event focused on providing attendees with new ideas and practices that they can implement as soon as they get back to the office," said Chuck Wilson, NSCA Executive Director. "Now they'll also take home a chance to earn a Certificate of Completion in recognition of their efforts to improve their businesses."

Balancing things out on the entertainment side of the event is a networking recreation activity planned for Thursday, October 26 -- golf at the Myrtlewood Palmetto Course. This excursion, combined with several other chances to network with attendees helps to fulfill the FBC's purpose of sharing best practices. "The Fall Business Conference is an invaluable opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with other business owners and managers in our industry," observed Paul Fussner, President of SoundCom Systems. 'After all, many of us share common obstacles, objectives and opportunities. Time is also a valuable commodity and this conference allows us to accomplish much in just a few short days."

Even the evenings are packed full of information at FBC. This year's Beer 'n’ Bull session will be less about the latter and more about "Convergence, Business and Change", providing an in-depth discussion on the impact of convergence and the changes that will follow. Join Barbara Sullivan from Cisco Systems, along with experts from the manufacturing and building management spectrums, as they discuss how convergence is currently affecting their businesses, and how it will affect you in the near future.

During the two days of courses, the FBC schedule includes general sessions addressing key issues facing the commercial electronic systems industry, along with two tracks of seminars allowing each attendee to create a learning experience geared toward specific business needs and interests. The Executive Track is designed for CEOs, business owners, presidents and general managers, and covers current and future factors affecting your business by providing strategies for revising and executing your business plan. The Management Track is focused on the daily issues facing vice presidents, service managers, senior operations managers, and financial managers, and will address challenges for today's growing businesses and tactics for overcoming these obstacles.

General sessions include Pat Richie’s keynote on “The Five Dysfunctions of Team”, Gary Kayye’s “Building Profit Centers in Your Company” presentation, and Dennis Hall’s presentation on how to “Become Compliant, Not Complacent with MasterFormat™ 04".

The Executive Track will include Leslie Shiner's "Effective Leadership and Delegation:  Determining Your Style and Encouraging Ownership and Accountability From Your Staff"; Adrienne Zoble's "On Generating Referrals"; and Marla McIntyre’s "Capital, Capacity, and Character: What the Three Cs of Surety Bonding Really Mean & How They Work For You".

The Management Track courses will feature Randy Vaughan's "Defining Your Niche and Differentiating From Your Competitors'; Leslie Shiner's "Growing Your Business Without Growing Out of Business:  Making Major Steps While Maintaining Your Margins'; and Marty Levin's "Avoiding an Accounting Crisis:  The Basics of Contract Accounting"

Those businesses which have demonstrated success through the implementation of progressive business practices will have a chance to share their stories on the first night of the FBC, during the 3rd annual Excellence in Business Awards. Right now, NSCA is seeking contractor companies with best in class business strategies for this portion of the program.
