CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, July 27, 2007 — NSCA welcomes Nancy Owen as Director of Industry Outreach.
“Nancy will bring to NSCA a strong spirit of community building and she’ll tell the story of our membership. What makes NSCA great is having great members,” says NSCA Executive Director Chuck Wilson. “Nancy will reach out to these members and forge relationships. As a journalist, she’ll expand NSCA’s media relations program and educate the public about the latest projects and news from our members.”
“I’m thrilled to be tapped for this new position. I love learning about new technologies and look forward to working with all NSCA members. I believe in providing exceptional and prompt customer service, both to internal members and to external clients,” says Owen.
Before arriving at NSCA, Owen worked at CNN Headline News in Atlanta, as a television reporter, freelance writer, publishing account representative, and as Director of Community Relations for a non-profit.
A native of California, Owen graduated from the University of Kansas with degrees in English and Broadcast Journalism. She plans to finish her Masters degree in Journalism soon.
Owen recalls using sound carts and reel-to-reel tapes during her college radio days and thinks today’s digital sound engineers have it much easier than she did!
Married for 15 years to a college professor, who hails from Wales, Owen and her husband have three children. She enjoys reading, travel, music, volunteering and the occasional hand of bridge.
