Government Relations Programs Can Achieve More Together

Joint Statement

Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI)

Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA)

InfoComm International

National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA)

National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA)

Security Industry Association (SIA)

April 17, 2007 – Several weeks ago, representatives from the above organizations met to discuss the government relations programs of each group and to create a unified voice for responding to common threats to our associations and industries.

Over the past several years, these groups conducted government relations programs operating at both complementary and cross-purposes. Each association represents a different membership and industry, so the associations sometimes have different perceptions of threats.

This group has come together to unify the seven participating associations in a concerted effort to stop legislative actions negatively impacting the associations’ members and industries. At this meeting the members identified common goals and created a framework for working together to achieve these goals. Through the efforts of the associations’ executive directors, elected presidents, government relations staff, members, and in some cases, Chartered State Associations, common threats to business operations will be addressed as well as working together on issues impacting the technology design, integration and security industries.

These trade associations are committed to sharing their government relations activities with each other in a transparent manner, respecting each others’ positions and avoiding legislative or regulatory efforts that will impact or divide the group. By adhering to these principles the associations' members will greatly benefit by these united technology design and integration associations.
