NSCA to Shift Locations for Expo 2008

NSCA to Shift Locations for Expo 2008

Dallas Convention Center named as site for expanded show

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, March 12, 2007—With Expo 2007 set to kickoff this year at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, NSCA Executive Director Chuck Wilson announced today that Expo '08 will be held in Dallas, TX, forgoing its normal biennial Orlando-Las Vegas rotation.

According to Wilson, the need for the move was dictated by the Las Vegas Convention Center’s decision to reduce meeting room space in the available hall.  By moving to the Lone Star State, Expo will take advantage of expanded space offered at the Dallas Convention Center to introduce several new events within a single building technology conference co-located within its own aisles and meeting spaces.

"The Connected Buildings Conference we'll preview this year in Orlando is just the first shot across the bow in terms of where we'll be heading next year," Wilson said. "The size and scope of our building technologies showcase and the participants involved next year will be sizably increased. Dallas, with its dynamic consultant and architectural communities, is the perfect place to unveil all that we'll have to offer."

Wilson also hinted not-so-subtly at the prospect of revealing a major new alliance between the NSCA and an as of yet unknown party at the conclusion of Expo 2007.

"Believe me, this one is going to be big," he added, building the suspense. "If your desired audience includes systems integrators, independent design consultants, architects, specifying engineers, facility managers, or building owners, you are going to love this deal."

On a parting note, Wilson urged everyone to stay tuned. For all those bemoaning the move away from Las Vegas, fear not: Beginning with Expo 2009, the show will return to Sin City and its normal pattern of cross-country migration between Florida and Nevada.
